It’s no secret that here at DamnMag our favourite little festival is the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival, and this year the tickets just got hotter.
We’re really excited that the music will keep playing into the night with the OLG After Dark series June 22 – July 3, headlined by Jim Bryson, Prince-protégé and Grammy-winner Judith Hill, and Japanese “death jazz” thrillers Soil & “Pimp” Sessions.
Starting at 10:30pm, when the last note has been played in Confederation Park, crowds will converge on the Tartan Homes Stage at Marion Dewar Plaza to keep the party going. What we love is the shows are included in the price of a festival pass, but for just $20 anyone can join in on the jazz.
In addition to the headliners, we can’t wait to bring on the night for Judith Hill; the wild live performance of Romani brass band Fanfare Ciocărlia with Toronto’s gypsy guitar wiz Adrian Raso as Devil’s Tale; and The Flat Earth Society, an experimental big band performing a live score to Ernst Lubitsch silent comedy The Oyster Princes.
We’ll see you when the sun goes down.
